Close to Mother Nature II

Apr 15, 2007

Early morning woke up at 530am.
Slept 5.5 hours.
We were going to Wang Kelian. The border between Perlis and Thailand.
There is a market there. To reach that market we need to climb over a hill.
I wondered if my Atoz could make it.

Rdscn8230

Climbing over the hill. Turning into sharp corners. Enjoyed the scenary. The fogs were below us. I amazed how my atoz made it throught.. =) Happily driving, and turning the corners...

Rdscn8242 Rdscn8240

We reached at market about 9pm.
After few hours walked around we went to Kaki Bukit Gua Kelam.
Entrance to Gua Kelam is a small stream for visitors to play water have fun.
Walked throught the cave...not a big cave a small one..
I actually like the cave lighting. But nothing much to see. (Promote Mulu Caves!!!!)
At the end of the cave is another little park for relax, camp and picnic.

The park outside before the entrance

Rdscn8244 Rdscn8269

Rdscn8253 Inside Gua Kelam. When we were on the way out from the cave, we actually walked in the dark due to no electricity supplied. TENAGA apa macam????

Rdscn8261

The park at the end of Cave. The area shud be very big. But hot weather...we didnt lingered long at the area. After lunch. we traveled to near by sugar cane plantation, Chuping.
Our country biggest sugar cane plantation.
Unfortunately we were not able to visit the factory.

Rdscn8282 Rdscn8307 Rdscn8313

Then we moved on, driving back to Kedah.
We visited the Padi Museum.
The padi museum entrance fee is RM3. By bringing in the camera u have to pay additinal RM2.

There are 3 layers in padi museum.

Rdscn8332

The entrance (middle layer) is decorated with Murals. All are very nice and attractive. Rdscn8336 Rdscn8338

The top layer has a rotating plateform. For you to oversee a mural illustrating the life of farmers and community that living surrounding the area. At the first glance I thought it is real scenary.

Ground floor is actually a very educational center where it is the information hub for all padi related information.

Rdscn8358_1 The padi museum elegantly stood in the middle of padi fields...

After the padi museum we moved on to the near by Gunung Keriang where this mountain was once famous with the grow of crystal.
Now we still can see a lot of pigeon holes on cliff. If we went near by..we can still heard the sound of "ting ting tuk tuk" pple are digging for crystal. Now government has retrict only lincensed pple can mine in the mountain. I heard also each hole has it own owner. If lucky you also able to pick up some crystal on the ground. So while visiting here please look closely to the ground. But watchup too on top there might have stone/rocks falling due to the mining.

Close to Mother of Nature I

To support the country Visit Malaysia Year Campaign.
Last weekend, My friends and I traveled North.
Within 2 days we cross 3 state borders and 1 international Borders.

Our main itinerary is to discover Kedah and Perlis.

Rdscn8061_1

I started my journey with the jam on Penang Bridge. Luckily it wasnt a bomb and may be it wasnt a serious accident. After 30 minutes slow moving on the bridge.I picked up My friend at megamall about 1130am.

We went straight to have Lunas farmous duck rice.
Not that far probably 30 minutes from Penang mainland..
go throught 2 tolls by using Kulim expressway.
Passing by the padi field on each side..
GREEN...NICE to see....=) (sorry no padi photos)

Rdscn8063_1

We were too hungry so we didnt capture the padi field photos. and also only half way eating I realised i have yet taken the photos of the famous duck rice. We order Yam Duck, Panggang Duck and the spicy and sour soup.

Rdscn8064

The shop that we went. There is another at the opposite.

After the food we going to Bukit Hijau.
Very far. We stop a few times to ask for direction.
Call to ask for direction.
We end up using old trunk road to get there...
I think almost 1.5 hours.
We passing by a lot of small small villages..
We should have used Kulim-Baling Expressway.
And when finally we saw the road sign...
we saw a lot of Palm trees.
Unfortunately, it started to rain.

Rdscn8104 Rdscn8115 Rdscn8148

Going throught Bukit Hijau..
Remind me a few things..

Why am i biting cold at Muir Wood State Park?
However...I cant deny that some scenaries in Yosemite is unique as compare with Bukit Hijau. Overall Bukit Hijau quite well maintain.
We saw a lot of pple having family gathering and picnic there.
Those who visiting there..should continue helping to take care the park.

After staying for about 1.5 hours we departed for next destination.
I skipped the visit to Lembah Bujang and Gunung Jerai which was on my schedule due to we started late in the morning.
We went straight to Gurun. Passing by Sungai Petani.
After picking up another friend, we went straight to Alor Setar.
Check in hotel and went for dinner seafood dinner at Kuala Kedah then visit the night of alor setar.
